LOCATION, LOCATION,

SIX FEET UNDER
A featured site on the eccentric HBO
series, Six Feet Under is the family home and mortuary, the Fishers & Sons
Funeral Home. The house
that’s used in the show can be found near Gramercy
Park in Los Angeles, and no, it’s not a
mortuary- just a private residence.
7TH HEAVEN
In the family drama 7th
Heaven, the Reverend Eric Camden (Stephen Collins) is not only father of seven,
but also pastor at Glen
Oak Community
Church. And services are not held on a set, but
at a real church also known as the *First Christian Church in Studio City. First Christian Church is no stranger to
television. Its credits include
Hart to Hart and the TV movie A Walton Easter.
(*Note my daughter got married at
this church)
FANTASY ISLAND
From the late-1970s until the
mid’80s, viewers loved Fantasy
Island. Who could forget the show’s
opening scene, when Tattoo would ring the bell and shout, “De plane,
boss! De Plane!”
Particularly noticeable was the home
of Mr. Roarke, a Queen Anne cottage located by the side of the lagoon. An exotic tropical retreat? No. That beautiful house built in 1885, is
located at the 127-acre Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden, and
the “lagoon” is Baldwin
Lake. Interestingly, the pontoon plane that
brought guests to Fantasy
Island had to be lowered
into the water by helicopter.
